Scorers: Sven Tonna 54′, Redheil Stivala 60′, Rhys Gove 63′
Fgura United’s youth team registered another victory, against a much-improved Zejtun C side, to keep in the hunt for a promotion slot. After an uneventful half in which both goalkeepers were rarely in action as respective defences controlled without much of a hassle the attacks thrown at them, the match sprang into life in the second period with all four-goal scored in a space of 9 minutes between the 54th and 63rd. Fgura drew first blood when active Stivala had his shot saved by the keeper only for Sven Tonna to tap in the rebound from close range. The Corinthians drew level when debutant keeper Bartolo saved from close distance but was beaten from the rebound shot by ex Keelan Azzopardi. Fgura immediately regained the lead when Stivala’s nice work on the right was complemented by a diagonal low shot which hit the foot of the far post before ricocheting into the net. Fgura inched away from their opponents when Morientes Muscat played a freekick to Rhys Gove’ on the side who let fly a powerful rising shot into the net. Our lads controlled the two-goal lead with Bartolo called into action saving from a long distance freekick and later turning to a corner another attempt.
