The Seniors suffered their second defeat of the season which sees us slide down the table when they were defeated by Mgarr United by a solitary goal. Fgura showed that technically they were superior to their opponents but the expulsion of Shawn Borg on the 35th minute hampered our chances despite our efforts to acquire some vital points from this match. A Matthew Brincat effort was saved by the opposing keeper and Julian Azzopardi turned to a corner a distant shot. Fgura were unlucky not to take the lead when Ewertton’s curling shot hit the crossbar. Borg got expelled soon after for a second booking. Despite playing with a man less Fgura looked the more menacing however we were leaving spaces behind with Azzopardi blocking on one in these breaks but was beaten on the 65th minute when a lobbed ball ended in goal as he was caught in no man’s land. Fgura tried to salvage the match, remaining susceptible to swift counters. Things got worse when Gandini left the pitch injured and the arduous task got more difficult with two men less with Mgarr resorting to time wasting antics to make our mission even harder.
