Scorers: Rafael C Prudente
Our seniors fell to heavy defeat against St. Andrews as things start to look complicated as teams beneath us in the table start to edge closer. Unfortunately, we are being penalised as we fail to make the most of the chances created and get punished by decisive episodes. Azzopardi had to dive to his right to save a shot in the 8th minute and on the other end a Jeremy Micallef freekick hit the upright, bounced on the line and back in play. The Saints went ahead in the 31st minute when they headed home from close range from a corner kick and three minutes later, they doubled the score line when Azzopardi parried a shot but was beaten by a quicker opponent to place the ball in the net. In the initial minutes of the second period a deflected shot eluded Azzopardi for the 3-0. On the 54th minute Prudente soared higher than the opposing keeper to head home a Quintero cross. St. Andrew’s restored the three-goal lead as they managed to poke in the ball on the second post from a corner kick. It was from another corner 10 minutes later taken by Quintero that Prudente headed splendidly in. Fgura tried to put pressure on their opponents and some fifteen minutes from time another Qiuntero free kick sailed over the keeper but was cleared off the line to safety. The Saints replied by two quick breaks which were controlled by the reds with difficulty. Six minutes from time an Ewertton shot was tipped over by the keeper but the referee pointed for a goal kick taking our team by surprise and sealing the issue for the 5th goal.
