Scorers: Dylan Caruana 2

Albeit creating numerous scoring opportunities our Seniors could not go past the 2-2 draw against Senglea A, thus again throwing away a good opportunity to scale higher in the table. After just 2 minutes Gabriel Borg’s curved shot was turned splendidly by the keeper to a corner, Senglea responding with a shot from distance which missed the target. On the 18th minute Ewertton’s shor was parried by the keeper but Shaun Borg deposited wide the rebound. Senglea took a surprise lead when an innocuous shot was mishandled by keeper Azzopardi with the ball rolling slowly into goal. Fgura increased the pressure and in the 39th minute Quintero eluded the Senglea defence but the keeper stopped his shot. From the resulting corner, the keeper punched away in difficulty only for Gandini to shoot just wide from an ideal position. However instant later, Thomas Grech, in his 100th game in the Fgura shirt served Dylan Caruana in the box, who side stepped the defender and shot past the keeper. After the break Fgura kept on pressing and Quintero passed to Borg who squared the ball back to Caruana to fire home for his personal brace. Quintero and Ewertton again combined well with the keeper saving to another corner, the latter’s shot. Minutes later Borg was again denied by the keeper. Fgura paid dearly for these lost opportunities and Senglea drew level on the 66th minute beating susbtitute keeper Moore from close range following a corner. Senglea’s keeper came to the Athletic’s rescue again stopping Gabriel Borg try. Immediately at the other end, Senglea hit the upright with the ball cleared away from danger chaotically. Six minutes from time, Morre came to our rescue, tipping over to a corner a fierce shot from an ideal position. At the other end, Fgura had a free kick which Prudente flicked back with his head on the first post only for the ball to sail just over the crossbar. It was not to be.
