In a hardly fought Challenge League encounter, Pieta Hotspurs maintained top spot beating Fgura United by a solitary goal scored in the opening phase of the match. A well taken freekick on our left-hand side was volleyed in on the turn by a Pieta forward. Julian Azzopardi was called to turn over to a corner a dangerous shot on the half our mark with Fgura responding just before the break Thomas Grech layed the ball to Ewertton, whose shot was saved by the opposing keeper. Azzopardi once again saved a distant shot on the 7th minute of the second period with the keeper again stealing the show with a fine save from a close range try. Joy Reno Vella failed to connect properly in front of goal from an Ewertton freekick and another cross from the Brazilian was met by Colombian Quintero on the second post but his shot travelled across the face of goal. With Fgura trying to salvage the game, they were leaving room for Pieta H to construct counter breaks but Azzopardi twice denied clear goal chances opportunities, producing top drawer saves.
